Term 4 Week 5 - Independent Reflection

October 30, 2017  •  Leave a Comment

Another challenging week.  In terms off networking I have completed the following: I have created an online portfolio (www.donhodgson.myportfolio.com). This is not complete as I still want to put my best sports photographs in it but I have put my MA project images there.  Next I  have started widen my social media network by doing the obvious thing that was to have my tutors and fellow students as friends. So thank you to the round table for that.  I have now also emailed eight military charities telling them what I am doing and asking for  their support particularly for my final exhibition and photobook in exchange for advertising their support  during the exhibition. The charities contacted are Help for Heroes, Royal British Legion, Endeavour fund, British Limbless Ex-Servicemens Association (BLESMA), SSAFA, Army Benevolent Fund, RAF Benevolent Fund and Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charitable Trust. Again speaking to  the charities and possible in the future working with charities may be a way to get other work.

The challenge was quite interesting in that I did not have a clue as to the best approach to tackle this. By chance I was staying in a B & B in Lincoln and got talking at breakfast to an american woman whose husband was doing a job interview so she was on her own breakfast. We talked about why she was in England and she told us since marrying a Brit she had not been back to the US  for 14 years. they had lived in Chelmsford for the last 6 years and before that in Tel Aviv.  She was looking forward to moving to Lincoln but we spoke about the difference between the original city with castle and cathedral at the top of the hill land the very modern city at the bottom of the hill.  We then left so I have no idea if he got the job.  I then put this in the discussion but I was unsure as to what was required so I did it asset I could.

I dod not attend the webinar because I did not have anything to discuss because having looked at the programme I  had left the presentation to this week.
